Beat The High Gas Prices With Cars From Ford and Buick

May 16th, 2011

Gas prices are reaching epic proportions of almost $4.50 per gallon in some states. One of the first priorities for many Americans is mileage when purchasing a new vehicle. Luckily you don't have to pay an arm or a leg for an efficient vehicle. Many of today's top selling cars offer great fuel economy along with lots of sweet options and amenities. St Charles Ford has a great selection of new vehicles in St Louis, MO.

When it comes to appearances the Fusion hybrid looks contemporary, edgy and even a bit on the sporty side. However, it's the mileage which gets us excited; it receives 41 mpg on the freeway and 36 mpg for city driving. If you like video games you will love the SmartGauge system which makes driving efficiently as fun as a game; you get rewarded with cool graphics on the display according to your driving habits. Another cool feature is Ford's Sync system which allows you to keep your hands on the wheel while you change up your music or make a phone call; everything is controlled by voice.

Since this vehicle is a hybrid it uses both an electric and traditional motor. The traditional engine consists of a 2.5 Ltr four cylinder engine and the electric motor is powered by a 275 volt battery. Horsepower is pretty decent at 194 HP and allows this car to go from 0-60 in just 9 seconds which is pretty fast for a hybrid. The only drawback is that cargo space is a bit tight at 11.8 cubic feet.

Another winner when it comes to fuel economy is the all new 2012 LaCrosse which is manufactured by Buick. This auto will use eAssist and is expected to get an impressive 37 mpg on the highway and 25 mpg in the city. The LaCrosse is not officially labeled a "hybrid" but it will utilize a few of the same systems that hybrids do. In order to save on fuel the engine will automatically shut down when the car is stopped plus regenerative braking is also in place. The auto will be equipped with a 15 kw motor which will power the engine.

The best part about this vehicle is how roomy it is inside; a total of five people can fit inside. The backseat area is super roomy and the cabin is well thought out. Ice blue ambient lighting is in place which lights up the cabin at night. The seats are adjustable and can be heated when it gets cold outside.

Standard features include xm satellite radio, remote keyless entry, an air conditioning system, a leather wrapped steering wheel. The LaCrosse is available in three trims; CX, CXL and CXS. The CXS comes with extra goodies such as temperature controlled seats and a state of the art stereo system.

Don’t Panic If Your Car Breaks Down

May 13th, 2011

Cars eventually break down at some point and it's important to know what to do in case your vehicle breaks down on the road. Being prepared ahead can go a long way in easing the stress of a vehicle break down. Aliso Viejo Cadillac offers great deals on cars in Orange County.

If your auto breaks down on the middle of the road you will need to pull over to the right. Put your blinkers on and stay inside your car. If you must exit the car; crawl over the passenger seat and exit from the right side. Never exit from the left hand side because you might accidentally get hit by oncoming traffic.

Don't ever leave the house without a cell. I like to keep my charger in my vehicle at all times in case my Blackberry runs low on batteries. It's even better if your phone has internet capabilities; you will be able to use it to search for a local towing service, the nearest gas station, a mechanic or anything else you might need.

It's a good idea to keep some cash on hand in case you might need it. You never know when you might need it; your cell phone might not work and you may need to use a payphone or in case you leave your wallet or purse at home.

Always keep jumper cables in the back of your trunk in case your engine needs to be jumped. It's also a good idea to keep a spare tire in the back and also an empty gas canister in case you run out of fuel. You might also want to keep a tool box and an emergency case in the trunk just in case.

Personally, I would never accept help from any strangers at all. It's better to be safe than sorry and some individuals might want to take advantage of someone who is lost and stranded. Stay in the car with all doors locked and the windows rolled up.

Car break downs are unavoidable but there are a few steps you can take in order to minimize the chances of one occurring. In order to prevent breakdowns; have your vehicle serviced on a regular basis as recommended in your auto's owner manual. Be safe out there on the road!

How To Pick A Great Car

May 8th, 2011

There are so many cars available for sale; it may be difficult to decide which one to purchase. You do not want to end up with a car that is too costly to maintain and breaks down all the time. Let's examine a few important issues to consider when buying a new auto.

Make a list of the list of features that are important to you. Are you just looking for something to get you around or are you looking for speed, performance, any particular brand? A vehicle with premium amenities will be a lot costlier than an economy car.

How much money are you willing to spend? What can you realistically afford? Financing is not as ideal as a one time payment due to the interest rates. If you are on a budget then an economy car like the Ford Focus would provide you with excellent mileage at an affordable cost.

Set a price limit and stick to it or else it may be tempting to splurge on more then you can afford. If your budget is smaller you will probably want to focus on functionality and practicality instead of luxury features.

Since fuel costs are high, gas mileage will also be a priority for many consumers. You can look up the gas mileage numbers for most vehicles on line. Most cars use regular gas but some high performance and luxury cars require premium gas.

Safety is another important issue. You can check results of crash tests for the vehicle you have in mind on the internet. Also do a search to see if there have been any recalls by the manufacturer.

It's important to take your car out on a test drive in order to get a good feel for the vehicle. Are the seats comfortable? Do you feel comfortable with the layout of all the control knobs? Does the car feel right for you?

Buying a car is a big deal so you want to make sure to do a lot of research before coming to a final decision.

Don’t Be A Slob, Clean That Car!

May 6th, 2011

In order to keep your car well maintained it's a good idea to clean it up once in a great while. Keeping your car in good condition helps to retain its value. Plus chances are you'll feel better when driving a clean vehicle. It's ideal to wash your auto once a week. It's recommended to wash in the shade because the sun can cause the water to dry up too fast and result in streaking.

First you will need to pick up the big pieces of trash such as water bottles and wrappers and toss them ot. Have a paper plastic handy so you can easily dispose of the garbage. Don't forget to look under the seat; a lot of trash can get stuck there. Don't forget to take out the floor mats and shake them out in order to get rid of dust and dirt.

Use a hand vacuum in order to vacuum the floors, mats and even seats if you have cloth ones. Discount stores sell these at affordable prices. If you don't have a hand vacuum you can go to a local do-it-yourself station where you can deposit some quarters and get to work.

Don't forget to clean out the trunk and throw out anything you don't need. This way you will have more space available in case you need to haul something large around. It will also increase your fuel economy if you empty the trunk of anything that you don't need on a daily basis.

Wipe down the dashboard, steering wheel, radio and air conditioner buttons. Don't forget to wipe down the transmission gear knob and the door handles since these tend to get grimy. The steering wheel can get quite greasy, especially if you eat in your car often. You can purchase pre-moistened cleansing cloths at auto specialty stores.

Don't ever use a harsh detergent or dishwashing soap on your car. If you use harsh soaps these can take the wax right off. Only use detergents and soaps made especially for car washing. Use a soft cloth to wipe down the car. Don't forget to wipe and polish the wheels too for a clean spiffy look. Use a garden hose and rinse everything off in order to remove the soap and dirt and dry the car using a dry towel.

Cleaning your car isn't a lot of fun but hey, not everything in life is. I usually like to clean my car out on the weekends. Don't be surprised if you find a long lost item when cleaning out your auto. Lots of stuff can get stuck between the nooks and crannies or under the seat! Have fun!

How To Drive In The Bay Area

May 5th, 2011

If you plan on doing any driving in The Bay Area and San Francisco you will need to get accustomed to driving on steep hills. San Francisco is particularly known for its steep roads which may make driving extremely challenging. Not to mention the issue of parking on an incline and decline! If you are not used to driving in an area with hills, it can be quite scary at first. Here are a few tips to help you navigate the roads.

The most important thing is to leave a lot of room between your vehicle and the one in ahead of you. If the vehicle in front needs to stop, their car will roll back a bit once they accelerate again. This is the most challenging part of driving up a hill; novice drivers will sometimes panic when their car rolls back. Richmond Volvo Dealer offers great deals on the C30, S40 and X60 in the Bay Area.

Always be prepared to switch from the brake to the accelerator as quick as possible. Some cars will roll back when you are going uphill, which can be a problem because you don't want to hit the car behind you but you don't want to over accelerate and hit a passenger or traffic either.

One technique that you can use if your vehicle has an automatic transmission is to press on the brakes with your left foot first, then slightly press the accelerator with your right feet while you take your foot off the brakes. When you are starting a car on a hill you will want to press the accelerator right when you release the hand brake. If your timing is perfect then the auto should not roll back; it's all about timing!

Another issue is that of parking. If you don't curb your tires (meaning if they aren't turned in or out depending on your position) the auto can roll back. If your car is facing uphill, you will need to turn the wheel away from the curb. If the vehicle is headed downhill you will need to maneuver the steering wheel towards the curb. Always use the parking brake.

Driving on a hill can be scary but practice makes perfect. Try and practice on an empty street if possible. The steepest streets in San Francisco are Filbert Street and 22nd Street. If you are having difficulty driving alone steep roads it may be best to avoid these two streets.

A Guide To Saving Money On Gas

April 29th, 2011

Gas prices are more expensive than ever and many Americans are dreading filling up at the pump. Of course the easiest solution is to purchase a hybrid but not all of us have the opportunity or the money to do so. Did you know that you can increase your mileage by following a few quick and easy to follow guidelines? Read on to find out how you can save lots of bucks at the pump!

One easy way to improve fuel economy right away is to throw out everything from your trunk that you don't need. A heavier load in the trunk simply uses more gas while a lighter one consumes less.

Driving aggressively isn't only dangerous but it also affects mileage. Speeding up uses more gas when compared to driving more steadily. In order to preserve gasoline you will want to maintain an even speed at all times; don't fluctuate between various speeds if possible. Sure accelerating fast is more fun but it doesn't help you save at the gas pump. Using the cruise control whenever possible on the freeway will help you maintain an even speed. Nissan Sentra san Bernardino has great offers in Riverside.

Having your vehicle maintained by a mechanic on a regular basis allows your auto to function better. Using the correct type of oil for your engine can help to improve mileage. Make sure your tires are in good condition and have the correct tire pressure. Not only will this decrease fuel costs; it is also safer.

Another way of saving bucks is by filling up your vehicle with the lowest grade of gasoline that it can run on. Luxury vehicles tend to require premium gasoline but if your vehicle doesn't then it's fine to use a lower grade, as long as it is recommended by the manufacturer.

Keeping a safe distance between your car and the one ahead of you is another effective tactic. Tailgating or following the driver in front of you closely will result in having to use the brakes rather often. There are two benefits to keeping a safe distance; it's safer plus you get improved mileage.

The last tip is easier said than done but try to limit your driving if at all possible. This last option may not be possible for everyone; many of us demand on our car to get us around every day. It can be nice to take the bus on the weekends or perhaps you can carpool with someone from work.

Used Cars Can Save You A Lot Of Money

April 26th, 2011

Times are tough and no one wants to spend tens of thousands of dollars on a brand new car that will depreciate quick. It's possible to get a used car that is reliable and functional at a much lower cost.

Used cars can be purchased from an individual or from the dealership. You can browse used cars by taking a look inside your local newspaper, specialized auto classifieds publications or simply by surfing the world wide web. Classified ads on Craigslist feature ads from both individual sellers and dealers. Used Cars Golden Valley offers great deals on vehicles in MN.

Before you sign the dotted line, always have the auto in question inspected. This is imperative in order to make sure that the vehicle is operating normally and won't have any major breakdowns later on. This is especially important since many mechanical problems are not visible to the untrained eye.

Always find out if the auto is sold "as is" or if it comes with a warranty. The seller is not responsible if the vehicle breaks down or needs repairs if the car is sold "as is". If it is covered under warranty, find out exactly which parts and services are covered and the duration thereof.

If you have the money to spare and want the best quality then you might want to look into certified pre-owned cars, perhaps even certified pre-owned luxury autos! These autos usually have been much better cared for than other regular used cars and tend to be late models. Vigorous and thorough multiple-point inspections have to be passed before a vehicle can be considered certified. Used Cars Mendota Heights has a large selection on Toyota, Nissan, Infiniti and Mitsubishi autos in MN.

Run a Carfax report before you make any final decisions. This report will give you a detailed breakdown of the vehicle's history.

When it comes to financing you can either pay cash, finance it through a third party institution or through the dealership. You are not obligated to finance with the dealership and in many cases you will be able to obtain lower interest rates through a credit union or your bank.

Buying a car is a major investment so make sure you make the right choice. If you want a lot of bang for your buck then used cars are the way to go!

How To Stay Safe On The Road

April 25th, 2011

We step into our cars every day without thinking twice but the fact is that driving can be very dangerous; in 2009 5.5 million accidents occurred with over 31,000 being fatal. Automobile accidents are one of the leading causes of deaths in developed nations. Here are a few tips to help you drive safely and hopefully avoid an accident.

Many accidents happen due to unsafe driving speeds. The majority of car accidents are single car accidents. This means that they are caused by a sole driving unable to maintain control of his or her auto. Infiniti fx 50 has great deals in Houston.

Pay attention to the road at all times and avoid distractions. This includes talking on your cell phone, texting, applying cosmetics or being overly engrossed in conversation with a passenger. I've even seen people shaving and reading while driving. When you are behind the wheel you are in essence controlling a lethal machine that can cause serious damage to yourself and others.

Maintaining your vehicle on a regular basis is also important. Getting your brakes fixed and especially your tires replaced in a timely manner is important when it comes to safety. Bald tires have less traction and can cause your vehicle to hydroplane in wet conditions.

It may not seem like a big deal but using your turn signals is necessary. It is unbelievable to see so many people change lanes without using their signals, especially on the freeway at fast speeds.

This last suggestion may be a bit extreme but try to avoid driving on weekends if possible; that's when all the party people are out and you run a higher risk of getting hit by a drunk driver, even if you are completely sober. Being a homebody and anti-social type of person I always avoid the freeways and roads on Friday and Saturday night. I am convinced that there are more drunk drivers out during these times and if you can avoid the risks then why not?

Famous Cars From The Movies

November 16th, 2010

Cars can really set the tone and mood on the silver screen. Nothing says sophistication and class like an Aston Martin and few other cars can emphasize the "tough guy" or "bad boy" image like a good old fashioned American muscle car, whether it be a Ford Mustang or Chevy Camaro. Here is a list of the most famous and memorable cars to ever hit the big screen.

Aston Martin DB5 "GoldFinger"- Aston Martin is well known for its elegant, good looking and powerful cars. The gorgeous DB5 has made an impressive appearance in both "Goldfinger" and "Thunderball" movies from the James Bond franchise. The actual DB5 model that was driven by Sean Connery in the movie was recently purchased at a British auction at the price $4.6 million dollars. The engine is 4.0 Liters and is able to reach top speeds of up to 145 mph.

Ford Coupe-"American Graffiti"- The 1932 Deuce coupe is well known for its appearance in a final drag race scene in the beloved classic film "American Graffiti". This bright yellow ride comes with a V8 3.6 Ltr engine and puts out 60 hp. Deuce's fame showcases the extent of Ford's popularity as an iconic nameplate.

Bumblebee-"Transformers "- Bumblebee is the yellow Chevy Camaro driven by the actor Shia LeBouf. Who can forget that scene where he picks up Megan Fox where she takes a look under Bumblebee's hood? Bumblebee is bright and yellow with daring black stripes. Unfortunately Bumblebee was involved in a recent car accident which was not written in the script. She was hit on the side by a police SUV in Washington DC. If you want to have a Camaro that looks just like this car, now you can, thanks to Chevrolet's Transformers Special Edition package for the Camaro. This will get you Autobot insignia fender bags and wheel caps and more Autobot insignias in the console in addition to the yellow and black exterior.

Ford Edge-"Quantum Of Solace" -Audiences physically gasped when Mr Bond didn't emerge out of a Bentley or Lotus but a Ford Edge. When you're suave like James Bond you don't need a fancy car in order to get all the ladies excited; remember, it's the man who makes the car, not vice versa. James Bond doesn't just any Ford Edge in the movie, but an environmentally friendly Ford Edge fueled by a hydrogen fuel cell. It's the perfect car to suit Bond's more sensitive and human character, which was unraveled in the film.

Delorean DMC 12-"Back To The Future"- This vehicle achieves the impossible and breaks the laws of quantum physics. In the movie the DMC is able to travel back in time when hitting exact speeds of 88 mph. In our book, that makes the Delorean one of the coolest cars ever.

Mustang GT-"Bullitt"- This movie includes an exciting and thrilling car chase starring a 1968 Ford Mustang GT. The car was very fast and powerful for its time and as a matter of fact, it's still powerful today! Equipped with an impressive a V8 engine with 325 HP, this smooth and cool ride played a big role in the car chase scene.

These cars have become almost legendary due to their brief stints in the flicks. Even if they are discontinued (such as the Delorean), they still live in our minds and hearts through the movies. Most people don't give the automobiles they see in movies a second thought, but in some cases, these vehicles have gone on to become even more famous than the leading actors themselves!
